The Humanities Division will provide you with a well-rounded liberal arts education through a variety of course offerings and degree programs. Courses in writing, literature, foreign languages, theology, and philosophy all serve to broaden your skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, oral and written communications, and understanding of the human experience. These attributes are intended to help ensure success in graduate school, garner attention from future employers, and equip you for a successful career path. Classroom studies, along with out-of-class opportunities such as practica, internships, and study abroad offerings, serve to provide a solid foundation for a variety of careers.

The Broadcast, a weekly student e-newspaper written “By Students, For Students,” provides experience in the journalism field by reporting campus news, athletics, and events. Student columns, editorials, and satires also grace the pages to add a forum for students to voice opinions and a medium for humorists to perform. The After Hours page publishes student creative writing—poems, short stories, and excerpts—providing an avenue for students to display their literary creativity.
Open 24 Hours, an annual literary journal, features the work of students, alumni, and other area writers.
The Ichabod Society is a student organization that promotes reading and the arts. Each semester, Ichabod Society members sponsor visits by writers and provide a venue for poetry readings and other literary performances.
The St. Ann Street Visiting Writers Series brings a variety of noted poets, authors, and literary artists to the greater Owensboro community for the purpose of cultural enrichment.
The Spanish Club sponsors a variety of activities that promote awareness of the Spanish language and Hispanic/Latino culture. The Spanish Club is open to all Brescia students, whatever their experience with Spanish language and Hispanic/Latino culture.
